The Gospel to the Poor

April 12, 2011

Introduction:

Prosperity is not just about money. God desires to prosper His people beyond their expectations; however, we must understand that prosperity in His Kingdom will require His standards. We cannot get around the fact that we must cultivate a relationship with Him, have faith, and receive His instructions. When we renew our minds with His Word, we take one of the first steps to receiving the God-kind of prosperity.

  1. Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery; however, even as a slave, he continued to prosper (Genesis 39:1-13, AMP).
    1. God will cause us to succeed in every area of life despite our current circumstances.
      1. Joseph possessed extraordinary wisdom, proving that God was with Him.
      2. God’s presence in our lives can be seen (Genesis 39:3).
      3. Joseph succeeded in all he did. As a result, his master gave him authority over his entire estate.
    2. Holiness is being of one mind with God.
      1. God’s presence was strong in Joseph’s life because he continued to obey, even in the midst of temptation.
      2. Although he was pressured, he refused to sin (Genesis 39:7).
  2. God has hidden wisdom and knowledge for us so we can resolve every problem that exists (Deuteronomy 29:29).
    1. We must learn to tap into God’s hidden wisdom.
      1. We can have access to His wisdom when we live holy lives, which allows us to hear His voice.
      2. We must continue to renew our minds with His Word (listen to messages, attend church, study the Bible, etc.).
    2. There are certain secrets hidden for us, not from us. He desires to reveal secrets to His children (Mark 4:21, 22, AMP).
      1. We experience breakthrough when we receive a Word directly from God. His written Word prepares us to hear His voice.
    3. The Kingdom of God operates by faith and the principle of seedtime and harvest.
      1. We will reap whatever we sow.
      2. Simon ministered to Jesus by providing Him a ship to preach in (Luke 5:1-7).
      3. He received a great harvest when he obeyed. However, he would have been more equipped to handle the harvest had he obeyed Jesus completely.
      4. His harvest was greater than his expectation.
      5. When we give Jesus first place in our lives, He rewards us with instructions that contain hidden wisdom.
      6. However, in order to receive the full benefits of these rewards, we must obey Him completely.
